After its first Drive-In Concert produced a sell-out last month, the Salem Civic Center is proud to announce its latest feature presentation for music fans in the area. “Lot Rock” is a collection of local rock bands that will take over the Civic Center’s parking lot stage on Friday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. This month’s show features Crobar Cane, Salem’s very own Orange Culture and Christiansburg’s Barren Minds.
“The reaction to the first show we did in this style and format was overwhelmingly positive.” says Wendy Delano, Salem’s Director of Civic Facilities. “Our unique and versatile facilities allowed us to adapt to social distancing guidelines very easily, and the attendees were very respectful of the rules and of one another.”
Crobar Cane has been serving-up big helpings of classic rock since the early 2000s. A mainstay of the local music scene for over a decade, the band performed nearly 200 nights a year and forged a reputation as a dynamic live act with a loyal audience. After a period of inactivity when the band’s members pursued various projects, the group caught the reunion bug and entered the studio in December of 2019 to begin work on its first new material since 2008.
“We’re stoked to be playing again in our hometown,” says Adam Rutledge. “It’s where we grew up, where we cut our teeth and where we learned how to be a band. To add to our excitement, we will be celebrating the release of our first single in over 12 years that night, so we can’t wait to see everyone.”
General Admission tickets are $35 in advance and $40 the day of the show for a carload, based on the number of seatbelts in a vehicle. (If your car has five seatbelts, your ticket will admit five patrons) Cars will be spaced in every other parking spot to accommodate a total of 200 vehicles. Guests are encouraged to sit in front of their car in the empty space or enjoy the concert from the air-conditioned comfort of their vehicle. “Lot Rock” tickets are on sale only at Ticketmaster.com and at the gate on the day of the show, if any remain.
