All solicitations must be submitted to the City of Salem, Purchasing Department, no later than the given date and time. Any Bid or Proposal received after the closed date and time for submittal, whether by mail or otherwise, will be rejected and returned unopened.

The City reserves the right to waive any informality or irregularity in any solicitation received and to reject any and all Bids and/or Proposals, as it deems in the best interest of the City.

Description:

The City of Salem, Virginia, is requesting sealed bids from qualified and licensed Bidders for elevator maintenance services, in accordance with Invitation to Bid (ITB) # 2019-018.

One (1) original and two (2) copies of the sealed bid will be received at the office of the Purchasing Department for the City of Salem until 3:00 PM on April 9, 2019 at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in City Hall, 114 North Broad Street, Salem, Virginia 24153.

ITB # 2019-027 - Water Treatment Plant Structural Repairs


Description:

Sealed Bids for structural repairs to the Water Treatment Plant project will be received, by the City of Salem, Virginia, at the office of the City of Salem Purchasing Department, 114 North Broad Street, P.O. Box 869, Salem, Virginia, 24153, until 3:00 P.M. local time on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at which time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read. 

The Project consists of a Base Bid including the underpinning of select perimeter foundations and grout stabilization of select interior slabs of the Operations Building; and, Additive Bids including underpinning of select perimeter foundations, grout stabilization of the Pumping Station, and installation of tension piles for additional portions of the Operations Building, Pumping Station, and Wet Well.

Bids will be received for a single prime Contract.  Bids shall be on a lump sum and unit price basis as indicated in the Bid Form. 

Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders, payable to the City of Salem, Virginia in an amount not less than 5% of the Bidder’s maximum Bid price, and in the form of a certified check, bank money order, or a Bid bond issued by a surety meeting the requirements of Paragraphs 6.01 and 6.02 of the General Conditions.

The Issuing Office for the Bidding Documents is:  City of Salem Purchasing Department, 114 North Broad Street, P.O. Box 869, Salem, Virginia, 24153, (540) 375-3063, (Contact Cassandra “Nikki” Switzer).  Prospective Bidders may examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. and may obtain copies of the Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office as described below.

Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office during the hours indicated above.  Bidding Documents are available electronically (pdf) without cost from the Issuing Office. Paper sets of Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office.  Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including Addenda if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office.

A pre-bid conference, which the bidder is strongly encouraged to attend, will be held at 1:00 P.M. local time on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the City of Salem Water Treatment Plant, 1300 Tidewater, Salem, Virginia, 24153.  Questions will be accepted until Friday, May 3, 2019.

Specifications for any proposed equivalent shall be submitted to Cassandra “Nikki” Switzer, Buyer, for prior approval on or before May 1, 2019. If specifications are not received and approved on or before this date, equivalent shall not be considered, and your bid for any item other than the brand specified will be deemed non-responsive.
