Country superstar Brantley Gilbert is returning to Salem in 2020 with a new album, a new tour and the same ol’ grit that has enabled him to connect with thousands of fans in Southwest Virginia during his past visits to the valley. Gilbert’s “Fire’T Up” tour will set up shop at the Salem Civic Center on Saturday, February 1, at 7:30 p.m. The platinum-selling recording artist made his Salem debut in 2014 as the headliner for the Blue Ridge Music Festival at Salem Stadium. In 2016, he completely sold-out the Salem Civic Center and once again packed the arena in 2018.
Gilbert, who identifies as a songwriter first, has invited Louisiana-native Dylan Scott, whose hits include “My Girl”, “Hooked” and “Nothing To Do Town” to join him on tour. The opening act will be Brandon Lay, the man Rolling Stone calls, “a country-rock version of Bruce Springsteen.”
Gilbert’s fifth studio album, Fire & Brimstone, is set for release on October 4, and it features a series of powerhouse collaborations with artists such as Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson, Lindsay Ell and Colt Ford.
“I truly feel like we’re at the point that we can let the music take us where it is meant to go, so with every new album we like to change up our show and make it something that plays to those stories and characters,” says Gilbert. “We’ll of course still do the hits our fans love, but we are looking at this as an opportunity to turn up the heat a bit and give the songs on Fire & Brimstone a chance to really rock.”
