Winterfest Beach Bash Features Band of Oz on February 3

The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department, along with Q99-FM, is all set to present the 10th annual “Winterfest Beach Bash” on Friday, February 3, at 6 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center.

Pumpkinfest Returns to Downtown Salem October 29

One of the fall favorites in Virginia’s Blue Ridge, Pumpkinfest, is set to return to the Salem Farmers Market this Saturday, October 29. This year’s event will once again take place from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and feature a costume contest and pumpkin give-away.

42nd Annual Salem Distance Run Set for August 13

The 42nd Annual Health Focus of Southwest Virginia Salem Distance Run is set for Saturday, August 13. The 5K, 10K and 3-mile Poker Walk events will once again start on Main Street in Downtown Salem and end at Longwood Park.

Movies at Longwood moved to August 19th with "Inside Out"

The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department will continue its 2016 outdoor movie season at Longwood Park on Friday, August 19th. The animated Disney-Pixar hit “Inside Out” - featuring the voices of Amy Poehler, Kaitlyn Diaz and Phyllis Smith - will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m., and admission is absolutely free.

Domino to Headline "Salem After Five" on July 22

The 2016 “Salem After Five” concert series is down to the final two events of the season. On Friday, July 22, one of the region’s favorites, Domino, performs on the Salem Farmers Market stage. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the event gets underway at 5:30 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting the Local Office on Aging.

The ultra-popular movie “Minions” - featuring the voices of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Steve Carell will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m., and admission is absolutely free.

The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department will open its 2016 outdoor movie season at Longwood Park on Saturday, June 11. “Hotel Transylvania” – featuring the voice of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James and Fran Drescher will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m., and admission is absolutely free.

Chance Crawford Softball Tournament Returns This Weekend

The 36th annual Chance Crawford Benefit Softball Tournament will be held this weekend, April 15-17, throughout the Roanoke Valley. The highly successful charitable tournament is a regional effort put on by the cities of Salem and Roanoke and the counties of Roanoke and Botetourt. For this year’s tournament, there are 140 teams representing Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Tennessee.

Salem After Five Performance Schedule Set for 2016

The popular “Salem After Five” concert series will begin a brand new season on Friday, April 29, with “The Kings” performing on the Salem Farmers Market stage. The event will get underway at 5:30 p.m. and all proceeds from the first event of the season will benefit The Salem Food Pantry.
