The Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a structure fire at 711 Kesler Mill Rd. this afternoon at approximately 4:20 p.m. When Firefighters arrived at Professional Auto Towing & Service Inc., they found heavy flames coming through the roof of the structure. Two employees of the business suffered burn injuries and were transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Salem Fire & EMS ambulances.
The first units arrived within five minutes of receiving the call and found flames coming through the roof in the rear portion of the structure. The fire took more than an hour to bring under control, and the building sustained heavy damage, as a result of the blaze.
Approximately 40 personnel from the Salem Fire & EMS Department (Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Medic 802, Medic 803, Medic 804, Battalion 1 & Fire Medic 1) and the Roanoke Fire & EMS Department (Engine 4, Ladder 7 & Battalion 1) responded to the call. Several staff officers from the Roanoke Fire & EMS Department and the Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department assisted on the scene.
The Salem Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire, and there is no damage estimate at this point in the investigation.
