The Department is charged with the responsibility of assisting in the improvement of Salem's natural and built environments. This is achieved through the Department's involvement in most major public and private development projects during the City's development review processes, long-range planning, and economic development activities.
Situated in the Shenandoah Valley between the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains on the Roanoke River, Salem possesses all the beauty and grandeur that nature can bestow.
The Economic Development office is located on the top floor at Salem City Hall located in the heart of downtown at 114 N. Broad Street.
