Raines was first appointed to the board in 2014 when he replaced retiring Board Chair Sally Southard. He is a James Madison University graduate who is the Chief Commercial Officer for Restoration Bioproducts. His wife, Amy, is a former teacher at East Salem Elementary and their two adult children both graduated from Salem High School. This will be his fifth term on the board.
Crawley was one of eight outstanding candidates seeking a seat on the board and this is his first appointment in this line of public service. The Roanoke native and Salem resident was a valued member of the Salem Police Department for nearly 25 years before his retirement as its Chief in 2024. Crawley is currently the Deputy Chief of Police in Roanoke City. He and his wife, Amy, have three adult children who are products of the Salem School Division. Christian graduated from Salem High school in 2020, and Gabby and Michael are currently student-athletes at the high school.
Crawley will replace Stacey Danstrom who is stepping down after 3 years of service as a member of the board.
