City Council Seeks Candidates for Salem School Board Spot

Salem City Council is beginning the process of filling one Salem School Board seat that is set to expire at year's end. The current term of David Preston expires on December 31, 2023, and Council is seeking citizens who would be interested in serving on the board. The term is for three years and will begin on January 1, 2024.

The official legal announcement for this process will run in the September 7, 2023 edition of the Salem Times-Register and can be found below. Anyone with questions and submissions can contact Laura Lea Harris, Salem's Deputy Clerk of Council, at (540)375-3016 or at llharris@salemva.gov. Interested candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and a resumé to Mrs. Harris by September 22, 2023. Council will hold a public hearing at their regular meeting on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. for any interested citizens to speak and at which time the names of all applicants must be provided for appointment consideration per the Code of Virginia.
