Salem City Council is beginning the process of filling two Salem School Board seats that are set to expire at year's end. The current terms of Nancy Bradley and Teresa Sizemore expire on December 31, 2024, and Council is seeking citizens who would be interested in serving on the board. The terms are for three years and will begin on January 1, 2025.
Anyone with questions and submissions can contact Laura Lea Harris, Salem's Deputy Clerk of Council, at 378-0172 or at llharris@salemva.gov. Interested candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and a resumé by October 7, 2024. Council will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. At that time, the names of all applicants who wish to be considered for appointment must be submitted to Council per the Code of Virginia. Interested candidates and citizens will be allowed to speak at that time, as well. The official legal announcement for this process, that will run in the September 19, 2024, Salem Times-Register, can be found below.
