The Training Division oversees and coordinates the vast amount of training that is required of our Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics on an annual basis. Due to the all-hazards nature of our department, our responders must continually train to remain proficient in fire suppression, emergency medical treatment, hazardous materials response and the various facets of technical rescue.

The training division also ensures that our personnel receive specified continuing education in order to remain certified to provide emergency medical care and to ensure they also meet the stringent fire training recommendations of ISO. The division works with the Haz-Mat team leader and the Technical Rescue team leader to coordinate participation in regional training drills and provides oversight of Salem's participation in the regional fire academy.
